Day 23

We rode 50 miles today to the town of Wolf Point. The wind was against us and so was the heat. We both just finally had to laugh at how miserable we were. Here we are beginning our fourth week of riding and for some reason our butts were hurting worse today than ever before. We couldn't sit on the saddle for more than 4 miles without having to take a relief break. Mark was feeling a little sick and my left knee of course was aching by the end. We're also feeling the weight of the Montana wilderness. With no trees to be seen for miles, some sort of road kill every few feet and bugs constantly swarming us, all we can do is count down the miles. On a more positive note, we keep meeting really sweet people along the way and the sun is shining.
However, we've decided to take yet another day off tomorrow in hopes of more knee/bottom recovery. Then we'll figure out whether or not we need to hop on the Amtrak to try and get ahead on mileage. We're not too worried, we'd just prefer not to ride if we can't really enjoy it. So, if we have to cheat a little bit to enjoy this tour, that's what we'll do.
Thanks again for your continued prayers and support. We'll keep trusting in our Father and asking for His wisdom throughout our tour.

  1. Mark and Sarah,

There are so many great plans that God has for you both. Plans that you have not dreamed of. Take heart little ones He is on His way even now with angels carrying arm loads of what you need.

Father even this evening we know that Mark and Sarah are bring glory to your name. Not because of this Father, but because of just how gracious you are strengthen their tired muscles. Heal a bruised knee, and cure the bug bites they are encountering. Give them a soft bed this evening to dream dreams of accomplishment. Give the faith in themselves because of Your power, give them love for each other that shines to those they meet, and give them hope that will point to the end of their journey. Lord Almighty who can do more and more and more deliver to my children what only you can give. Amen.

  2. Exodus 15:11 (New International Version)

11 "Who among the gods is like you, O LORD ?
    Who is like you—
    majestic in holiness,
    awesome in glory,
    working wonders?
Father, we thank-you for protecting Mark and Sarah for these 24 days. We thank-you that your Spirit is in them so that they can laugh even facing difficulties. We thank-you also for the provision of an Amtrak train ride. We pray that they will have a great day of physical and mental rest and recovery, esp. Sarah's knee. Should they choose to bike tomorrow, may they have renewed energy, perseverance, and good weather! Please continue to give them wisdom as they decide how to continue everyday.
To You be the glory, Lord.
    In Christ, Amen

  3. Just got off the phone with Mark & Sarah, and I really miss them and wish I could just go be with them now. Even though we can't be together physically at this time, we can be together through our prayers as God unites His children all over the world through prayer.

"Be watchful, stand firm in your faith, be courageous, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love." (I Corinthians 16:13)

I love you two so much! Mom

Thats the one we are taking after we ride 3 rail trails from LaCrosse to Reedsburg, then on the road to Madison, then another rail trail to just outside Milwaukee where Jane's sister lives. Currently we are in the Williston train station awaiting a very late train.
